The Pueblo Twilight will be returning to the CSU-Pueblo Thunderbowl on Friday, May 2, 2014.
We are currently in process of checking on the status of schools for 2014 that participated in 2013. When those schools have had their chance to respond, we will open entries to new schools on January 9. For those who didn't attend last year but want to look into attending this year, here are a few of the features of the meet:
- All field events and laned events, except the 4x400, are held in the afternoon during daylight hours. A break comes at 6 PM. The evening sessions include multiple heats of 1600s, 4x400s, and 3200s under the stadium lights.
- The meet accepts the top 45 entries (as recorded in the CHSAA state-qualifying rankings) in each event. Laned events will accommodate five heats of nine each. The 800 will run three heats of 15 per gender. Relays will run three heats per gender. Schools are limited to three entries per event in individual events and one entry per relay. All entries are subject to make the cut of the top 45.
- The distance events will accommodate larger fields. Up to four seeded heats of 24 will run in the 1600s. Up to three seeded heats of 27 will run in the 3200s. Schools are allowed a max for four entries in both the 1600 and 3200.
- No team scoring will be kept for the meet.
A meet entry form is attached at the bottom of this article. Teams who were entered in last year's meet will have first priority, but we hope to have room to accommodate a few more teams, and we definite figure to have room to accommodate more individual entries.
This meet cannot guarantee ideal conditions for distance events (or any events, for that matter), but we do everything we can to set up to take advantage of the best conditions possible. And we can guarantee exceptional facilities; the CSU-Pueblo facility is unrivaled in the state for hosting a meet like this.
