Flo50 #9 Jake Brophy of Central Bucks East ran 15:48.1 to win the John Sharp Viking Invitational on Friday afternoon, as he improved from his 16:05 performance in 2014.
The run is a strong indicator of success for the senior, who hopes to defend his Pennsylvania state XC title and improve upon his 25th place finish at Foot Locker Nationals from 2014.
"I am happy with it!" Brophy said after the race. "I was looking to improve upon last year's time, but mainly just to have fun with it. It's a nice meet to track progress from year to year, and I'm happy with the result. It's been a good summer for training and I'm looking forward to the rest of the year."
