Tell us a little about the decision for Belmont. What made that school the right fit for you?

The right academic fit and opportunity to run track were both important to me. When listing the criteria for my ideal school back when I was a junior--Division I track, 6,000-10,000 students, strong academics, beautiful campus, great city, nice weather, . . .--Belmont met all of the criteria!

How long had Belmont been on your radar screen?

My dad and I made a trip to Nashville during the fall of my junior year. It has been on my list since that first visit. On my official visit this Fall, after staying on campus overnight and spending time with the team, I knew Belmont would be a great fit for me!

What do you plan to study in college?

I would like to eventually go to medical school and am planning to be a biology major.

The 300 meter hurdles has been something of a specialty for The Classical Academy with Ben Hinckfoot, Alexa Chacon, and Jon Roy winning state titles in the event in the last six years. What's the magic?

First it starts with great coaching! Also, the athletes ahead of me set the standard. They showed me how to work, and their records provided goals for me to strive for. I also think our team has a strong culture of mentoring and taking younger athletes under their wing. That was certainly the case for me with Jon Roy and Alexa Chacon, and I hope to be able to fill that role this season as well. It was great having Ben Hinckfoot, who now coaches for TCA, cheered me on when I broke his school record last year.

Will we be seeing you in the indoor season--and, if so, what events--or will you wait until March to hit the track for competition?

I am planning to compete during the indoor season. I will be running with Speed Track and Field again this season and I will be focusing on the 60m hurdles, the 200m and the 400m.

Are there any particular goals remaining for what's left of your high school career that you're willing to share with us?

I hope to earn two state individual championships as well as a team championship. It is also important for me to be a mentor to our team and serve as a leader.
