Colorado at Junior Nationals (amended)

Junior Nationals takes place this weekend in Clovis, California. Clovis is always hot in the summer, but this summer might be a little extra toasty. So, there will be issues for the athletes to deal with.

Adding to the heat will be a solid delegation of Colorado entries.

Current or former Colorado high school athletes competing this weekend include:

  • Shayna Yon (formerly of Cherokee Trail, now of Louisiana State), 100 meters
  • Julia Hall (Arapahoe) and Heide Baron (Pine Creek), 400 meters
  • Jordyn Colter (formerly of Cherry Creek, now of California), 1500 meters
  • Katie Rainsberger (Air Academy), 3000 meters
  • Ashley Miller (formerly of Cherry Creek, now of Texas), 100 hurdles
  • Damajahnee Birch (formerly of Denver East, now of Arkansas), 400 hurdles
  • Riley Cooney (formerly of Mountain View, now of Kansas) and Megan Wenham (formerl of ThunderRidge, now of Colorado School of Mines), 3000 steeplechase
  • Andrea Willis (The Classical Academy), pole vault
  • Tarynn Sieg (Eaton), shot put
  • Haley Showalter (formerly of Valor Christian, now of Wisconsin), discus and hammer throw
  • Nik Chappee (Air Academy), 200 meters
  • Duane McClurkin (formerly of Fountain-Fort Carson, now of Colorado), 200 and 400 meters
  • Trenton Stringari (formerly of Canon City, now of Colorado), 400 hurdles
