2017 USATF-Colorado State Indoor Champs: Lighter Turnout, Big Performances

The turnout at the USATF-Colorado State Indoor Championships was a bit lighter than it has been in a few previous years, but that fact didn't seem to do much to diminish the quality of the performances. If you couldn't find an event result or two to get excited about, you simply weren't looking very hard.

If you're looking for a reason for the decline in attendance, there might be a couple. One of those reasons, however, was almost assuredly not the Pro Bowl game. More likely candidates include heightened competition from the Colorado School of Mines High School indoor series, and a bit of stepped-up vigilance from CHSAA over high school coaches having coaching contact with athletes from their schools on Sundays.
