What Did It Take To Advance To State Last Year? 4A

James Lee's 1:57.84 tops the current 4A Boys rankings in the 800, but it's only a second beneath last year's state cut. Look for 800 times to get faster as the season goes on. They always do.

This one will wrap up the What-did-it-take series.

4A is the one classification where you really could make the case that it might end up being slightly easier this year than last to qualify for State. There are a couple of teams down from 5A this year at the top end, but there was also a massive hemorrhaging of teams--some of them very solid teams--at the bottom end to 3A.

I wouldn't count only anything getting dramatically easier, but there could be a little greater window of opportunity in a few events this spring.

Following on what's left of this page, you will see the minimum boys marks required to advance to State in 4A last year. Then, on the next page, we take a look at the minimum marks required last year for girls.
