Gya'ni Sami was easily the top discus thrower of the day.
Day one of the 2017 Fountain-Fort Carson Invitational more or less ran the gamut of spring weather in Colorado. For a few minutes right at the start of the meet, things were actually both warm and calm.
Neither warm nor calm lasted long, however. Before the meet was an hour in, a lightning delay was called. The next hour was a combo pack of lightning, cold rain, and wind. And, it never really got warm again. Nor did the wind ever die down much after that.
It was just cold.
Despite all that, the athletes managed to sneak in some nice performances.
