Let's start by having you tell us how you settled on the University of the Redlands.

I chose to attend and run track at the University of Redlands because that is where I ultimately felt the most welcomed by both the coaching staff and athletes. Not many Division 1 programs were looking at me because I only had run track for one season so I was choosing between mostly D2 and D3 schools and after visiting Redlands I knew it was the place for me!

What do you plan to study there?

I plan to double-major in Global Business and Political Science.

As I go back through old Colorado Track XC results, I think I see that you ran some cross country back in middle school but then were out of sports your first two years of high school. What brought you back these last two years?

Yes, I used to run cross country back in middle school but I stopped in high school to focus solely on basketball. After my junior of basketball I wanted to try something new and different so I decided on track and after the first few meets I realized that I was actually pretty good. This year I ran cross country as well and began to take my training much more serious and it definitely shows in my times over the course of this season.

You've run both the 400 and 800 pretty well. Do you have a hunch which way it will go between the two in college?

In college I will definitely run both the 400, 800, and probably some 1500 too but the 800 will definitely be my main focus. After placing second in 5a and improving my 800 time significantly this season, it's pretty clear that is my best event. I am also going to run cross country in the fall so that should also help improve my ability and endurance in the 800 and the 1500.

Pick a highlight from your high school career for us.

Breaking both the DPS and school record in the 4x800 in 7:48 at the DPS League Meet with my awesome teammates.

What's left to accomplish in your last month of high school sports?

We are actually going to New Balance Outdoor Nationals in June so we have a lot more work to do over the next month and I'm hoping to get down to a 1:52-1:53 in the 800.
