The Colorado High School Coaches Association will hold its annual track and field coaches clinic at the Red Lion Hotel, Parker Road and I-225, on February 6 and 7.
The are any number of reasons that those who coach track and field and Colorado will want to attend--the mandatory rules change briefing, an all-star slate of speakers, member awards and recognition, visiting with vendors, and renewing old acquaintances within the coaching community. For those hosting qualifying/ranking meets this spring there is also a very important session on what CHSAA will be requiring of the directors of those meets.
The roster of speakers includes such well-known names in the Colorado track and field community as Jen Michel, Jay Johnson, Matt Hemingway, Jim Banich, Pat Manson, and Melody Fairchild--each speaking within their realm of expertise. Speakers will cover topics from muscle activation, to applying speed to 1600 and 3200 training, to shot put technique, to off-season distance training, to multi-event and 400 training and most everything in between.
Colorado coaches must be a member of the association to attend. Annual membership is $70 and the pre-registration cost for the clinic is $40. Those registering at the door will be charged $50 for the clinic. Sessions begin at 5 PM at Friday and continue through about noon on Saturday. A continental breakfast will be hosted by the CHSCA at 7:30 AM on Saturday.
The Red Lion Inn has a special room rate of $89 for coaches if you call and reserve before January 23.
