Where To Now?

What's ahead for Colorado Track XC? Bonus points to anyone who knows where this photo was taken.

The last major track meet of the season here in Colorado just wrapped up on Saturday.

Oh sure, there will be a few more smaller meets (disproportionately specialty meets)--the Throwers Pentathlon, the Rocky Mountain State Games, the Boulder Track Club meets, the State Fair Street Vault, and a small handful of others. But, for almost all intents and purposes, the 2017 outdoor season is done here in Colorado.

So, what does that mean for Colorado Track XC?

Well, this:

  • I have no more track and field coverage trips scheduled, though it's possible I'll show up at a meet or two here in Colorado Springs yet this summer. If the Colorado Classic Mile turns out as many high school athletes as it's hoping to, I'll probably be there for coverage as well. I would love to do coverage of the National High School Trail Running Championships in Salida, but I really need to be at the CHSCA clinic that weekend. Conflicts...
  • The 4th of July road race results blitz is just about to hit. Please help point me in the direction of any results I seem to be having trouble locating. It's more fun when we can heap lots of different results into one big pile. That means I need help from races like the Paonia Cherry Days 5K, the Ourayce 10K, anything from the San Luis Valley, and so on. And, photos are always welcome as well. I'll use what I can. I'm not particular about the specific date of July 4, just that the race is on or around the 4th.
  • There will be summaries from the USATF Junior Olympic Region 10 and National Championship meets. As I mentioned earlier, though, I don't have any plans to travel to Arizona or Kansas. If you go, however, and get a great photo or two of one or more of our athletes, feel welcome to send them along. I'm happy to take submissions for cover images from both meets.
  • Although cross country meets don't begin until August 25, it's just about time for cross country preview stuff to kick in. I make it a point to hold off on this until the beginning of July, though. So, you can start checking for those preview articles on July 1! Some will be regular content and some will be premium content.

Thanks for coming back regularly to see what shows up here! It's always appreciated.

And, on August 25, it all reverts back to normal--wall-to-wall coverage of everything cross country as it happens. I'll be at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede all day long (except for when I'm running our own team practice), taking in the spectacle of the beginning of a new cross country season.
