Colorado Track XC Needs Your Help!

Here are a few simple things you can do to make this site even better this cross country season...

It's time to start building my fall coverage schedule.

One of the things I'm up against in doing that is that I can't submit to the national office for coverage of a meet unless said meet is on the fall cross country calendar for Colorado.

Currently, that has me in a pretty tight spot for coverage of league and regional meets (and possibly a small handful of invitational meets as well).

If you know dates of meets that are not yet on the Colorado Track XC calendar--and especially if you're hosting any such meets--would you please be so kind as to send me the dates and locations of those meets? If you send along some basic meet information, I'll add that to your meet page as well. That would include things like race times and contact information.

For races that are on the calendar for this fall (and ones that will go up), I'm simply copying over all the settings from last fall's version of the meet. If you had online registration last fall and need to tweak something for that this fall, please let me know and I will make whatever adjustments are necessary. The sooner you let me know, the easier all of that is.

And, if you didn't have online registration last fall but would like it this fall, let me know and I'll get that added. It's pretty quick and easy to do before the season. After the season starts, I have very limited time to get that sort of thing done.

Remember, online registration isn't just inexpensive on Colorado Track XC; it's FREE! Yes, I did mean to shout there.

Middle schools are welcome to add meets with online registration on this site, but I do request that, if you use our free online registration, you do us all the courtesy of sending meet results here after the meet so that they can be posted and we don't leave folks who attended the meet wondering if results for the meet will ever show up. It's as simple is putting an attachment on an email to the address at the bottom of this page. And, if you aren't scoring the meet, you don't need online registration.

If you are interested in doing coverage for Colorado Track XC for the fall season, I can bring on another contributor or two this fall. You must have decent writing skills and know your way around a camera capable of capturing good images of fast-moving objects. Photos don't have to be prize-winning kind of shots, but they do need to be sharp, well exposed, and should approach frame-filling compositions of the runners. If you need some of this kind of work for a college class, or something along that order, I'm happy to work with you on that.

That said, if you're simply a parent or a coach who has an interest in doing this, you're also welcome to let me know.

Timeliness of submissions is essential. Willingness to learn how to do photo resizing and uploads, and following a style guide, is also essential.

This is a paying gig. Nobody is going to get rich off it, but it's fun if you let it be that.

As a reminder to those who've used this site in the past and as a bit of good news to those who haven't, if you go to the Colorado Track XC calendar and click on a meet, you will find a link to the meet venue in the banner area. If you click on the meet venue link, it brings up a Google map to the venue. The vast majority of cross country venues around the state are located. And, if your meet has a venue that isn't property located, please let me know and I'll fix that. Thanks!
