It's long been rumored that distance standout Josh Schumacher would attend Stanford, and the Jesuit High School product finally put pen to paper on Wednesday and signed his National Letter of Intent with the Cardinal, MileSplit has confirmed.
The son of famed Bowerman Track Club coach Jerry Schumacher, Josh has made a name for himself by running personal records of 3:50.21 for 1500m, 4:11.36 for the full mile, 8:53.62 for two miles, and 14:29.42 for 5000m at June's USATF Junior Championships, where he placed fourth.
Schumacher, who qualified for Foot Locker Nationals in 2016 and finished 27th, is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Oregon state XC meet and will be a huge boost to Stanford, which is currently ranked No. 4 in the FloXC national rankings.
