PSA: Indoor Track Competition Starts In Just Two Weeks!

Denver Lightning's Kyairra Reigh figures as one of the highlights of the upcoming indoor season.

Here we are, right in the heart of cross country's championship season, and who comes knocking at the door but Indoor Track & Field?

Yessirreebob, it's just about time for hairpin turns, crash pads at the end of runways, and SRO viewing once again.

This year's indoor season gets underway with the Colorado School of Mines High School Indoor Series #1 on November 30. Yes, for the first time ever, high school indoor track and field has arrived in Colorado in November. Leave it to the Mad Engineers at CSM to turn over more new ground.

The Mad Engineers aren't done in November, either. There will be a total of six high school indoor meets (likely all running to completion in 2.5 hours or under) this season at Steinhauer Field House. In addition to November, there are December 6, January 18, January 25, February 1, and February 8 dates at Steinhauer.

You can get your hands on the blast of information for all the Mines indoor meets here.

That makes for a whole lot of reps for the Denver area explosive event types.

Of course, there are other meets joining in on the fun as well.

The Air Force Holiday Open, typically open to high school competitors, runs on December 8. Air Force will also host their annual high school indoor open on February 2 and 3 this winter. Yes, it's now a two-day meet, with a lot of prelims and the two miles on Friday, followed by mostly finals on Saturday.

USATF will be hosting their usual series of indoor meets, all at the Cadet Field House this year, on Sundays from January 7 - 28, inclusive.

More? You want more?!

Well, in that case you could think about the Western State High School Indoor Open on February 10. And, of course, not-too-distant venues at Great Southwest (February 10) and the Simplot Games (February 15 - 17) beckon as well.

If your dreams run still farther afield than that, the possibilities are almost limitless. But I'm not going to go there; you will have to find your own way.

Suffice it to say there will be plenty to keep Colorado Track XC busy with coverage this winter.

As an added bonus, MileSplit will be back with live coverage of the Air Force High School Indoor Open this year.
