Mid March Madness At The Coyote Warrior Invite

Lily Margolis remained on top of the state leader board in the high jump. Margolis won the event in 18-01.5.

The Girls
Manson opened up her outdoor season in fashion, claiming the 100, the 200, and the pole vault - all in dominating fashion. Mason was the lone runner under 13 in the 100, winning in 12.71, as well as the lone runner under 26 in the 200, winning the event in 25.97. But it was in her signature event - the pole vault - where she claimed a state-leading mark. Manson soared over the competition with a 12-6 vault to take the event with ease. Behind her Tameryn Coryell and Heidi Liles took second and third, with marks of 11-0, and 10-6.
There was no match for Riley Masten in the long jump. The Rock Canyon sophomore claimed the event with a mark of 5-4. Masten's mark puts her in a tie for No. 3 in the state. Likewise, Lily Margolis continued her streak of improvements. Margolis not only won the 400 in 59.55, but she added some length to her long jump - claiming the event with a new state-leading mark of 18-1.5.
The distance events were stacked with top-tier performances.

Marlena Preigh ran a state-leading 2:16.87 to win the 800 going away. Preigh dominate the field with a four-second win. The girl's 1,600 was one of the more exciting races of the day, as Claudia Burgess and Quinn McConnell took the race down the wire. McConnell was out quick, establishing an early lead over the field. Meanwhile, Burgess patiently bid her time before unleashing a furious kick to overtake McConnell just before the line. Burgess took the win in the smallest of margins - winning 5:11.35 to McConnell's 5:11.43. The times are No. 2 and No. 3 in the state. Brynn Siles opened her outdoor season in the 3,200, and made sure to pick up right where she left off during the cross country season. Siles ran uncontested for much of the race, running away from the field for a 10:56 victory - a 26-second win.

Monarch claimed the team race with 126 points to Boulder's 116.
