Evans Impresses And The Classical Academy Nearly Sweep 3A

Bayfield's Carl Heide swept the hurdles with two state titles - the 110 and the 300 hurdles.

In the sprints there wasn't anyone who could keep pace with Seven LindseyThe Kent Denver senior went 10.74 to win the 100 with the lone sub-11, and he went 21.78 in the 200 for the lone sub 22. He was clearly in a league of his own.

In the 400 it was all Chad JacksonThe Alamosa junior ran the fastest time in the prelims, and duplicated the feat in the finals where he ran 49.91.

The 800 looks to be an event that'll explode in coming years, as the top-four all return next year. Rasce Engelhardt,  Yasin Sado, and Colton Stice made this a race to the line, with Engelhardt taking the win in 1:56.41. The top nine broke two minutes.

The 1,600 was just as close, with the top seven breaking 4:30. Sado ran clear of the field early, but was gobbled up by the pack with 600 to go, where Stice threw down the hammer. Stice battled off multiple challenges for the lead over the final lap, but finally succumbed to his challengers in the final 80 meters. Ryan Moen led the charge across the line in 4:25.72, with Sado battling back to finish second. Mason Norman finished third and Stice fourth. Like the 800, a slew of these runners return next year, minus Moen.

Ryan Moen took the 1,600 win in a lean.

The 1,600 title was Moen's second title of the weekend, as he won the 3,200 Thursday. After a modest early pace Moen and Norman surged hard and spread the pack out. The Classical Academy went 1-2 in the event, led by Moen's 9:38. Norman was seconds behind in 9:41.
