Mile High Mile On Tap

The Mile High Mile.

Let that roll off your tongue. It has a nice ring to it. So much so, that I can hear it ringing on for years to come, because this is a great idea. And it would make a great t-shirt.

Additionally, it's somewhat difficult to say fast. On that note, anyone interested in 15 minutes of fame - film yourself saying "The Mile High Mile" as clearly as possible, and email it to breyes@milesplit.com. Let's be honest, I'd love to embarrass and promote at the same time, so I'll run the good, the bad, and everything in between on all of our social media channels.

Now, back to this high energy, rust-busting mile to kick off the 2018 cross country season...

The shindig goes down Thursday, Aug. 16 at Potts Field. The event will be the grand finale of the Boulder Road Runners All-Comers meets. The all-comers heats run at 7:45, the elite women run at 8:15, and the elite men at 8:30.

Not only do you get to enjoy four laps of burning lungs and legs, but you get to lace up your spikes and leave some sweat on the same track the University of Colorado runners do. You get to... Run where the Buffaloes run...

The event offers all-comers heats, as well as an elite field. And being held in Boulder, you know it really will have an elite field. There will be FAT timing, a running scoreboard so athletes and fans can see those bright red numerals tick away, a visual of when the gas tank is about to run out. There will be announcers to give a real pro feel to the race, and perhaps the best perk of all: food. Glorious, tasty food.

We're talking a taco food truck, and Sweet Cow ice cream. Tacos and ice cream? That may rival my favorite mixture of pickles of cheese. My mouth is already watering at the thought.
