Kosgei and Barringer Named Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week

John Kosgei (Oklahoma State) and Jenny Barringer (Colorado) have been named Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week. It is the first conference weekly award for Kosgei and second for Barringer.

John Kosgei, Oklahoma State, Sr., Eldoret, Kenya
Kosgei, a 2008 All-American, placed third out of 245 runners at the 73rd Annual Cowboy Jamoree in Stillwater, Okla. with a time of 23:53.60. He was one of two Cowboys to finish in the top five. Competing against several teams ranked in the Top 25 as well as Big 12 competition, the Cowboys took fourth place overall.

WOMEN
Jenny Barringer, Colorado, Sr., Oviedo, Fla.
Barringer broke the 5.8-kilometer women’s record at the Buffalo Ranch Cross Country Course by 13 seconds with a time of 19:25 at the Rocky Mountain Shootout. She surpassed the time set by Olympian and former NCAA Cross Country Champion Kara Grgas-Wheeler to become the second female to finish the course in less than 20 minutes. Barringer defeated the second-place finisher by almost a minute while leading her team to its 11th-straight Rocky Mountain Shootout title.
