Ariana Bishop-Falu didn't see a lot of track action last spring, but what she did see was enough to indicate some serious promise at 100 meters.

This depth analysis feature turns a spotlight on a league that's close to home for me: the Colorado Springs Metro 5A. Over the years, a whole lot of talent has pushed its way through this league. So what does this year look like?

Rampart takes an early edge in the projected team scoring. Behind the Rams, Liberty, Fountain-Fort Carson, Pine Creek, Coronado, and Doherty find themselves locked in what amounts to a dead heat. And all are within theoretical striking range of Rampart.

Rampart is probably strongest with respect to the rest of the league in distance events, but the Rams have enough balance across the board that it's going to take a very nice season by some other team or teams in the league to knock them out of the top position.

In terms of state meet potential, this probably isn't the best year ever shaping up for the Colorado Springs Metro 5A, but in terms of competitive depth across the breadth of teams in the league this could end up being one of the best years we've seen here in a long time.
