Who will be the Queen of Colorado's Distance scene? We break down the likely contenders.
"You don't become a runner by winning a morning workout. The only true way is to marshal the ferocity of your ambition over the course of many day, weeks, months, and (if you could finally come to accept it) years. The Trial of Miles; Miles of Trials."
- John L. Parker, Once A Runner
There are no clear favorites on the girl's side, and it's probable that when the season concludes the statement will stand, because Colorado has a lot of talent. So much in fact, that narrowing down this list was fairly difficult.
Unlike the boys, who usually rise through the ranks with each passing year, the girls list is scattered with talent that spans the four years of high school.
There is so much depth that even if everyone of these girls raced each other every week, it's likely there would be a new victor each time. While it's unlikely that we'll see the following names toe the line at the same time this season, we could always speculate.
If I were asked to pick my six favorite Radiohead songs, the list would likely change from day to day, likewise, the girls distance scene is loaded with talent, which means it's anybody's race.
