Russell finished the 2008 xc season witha All league placing 6th and finishing 35th at the 3A state xc meet.

Russell had out standing 2009 track season with a 2nd team All league in the 4x800m for Columbine high school. He ran 2:05 in the 800m and 4:41 in the mile.
