Jimmy Carnes Indoor Meet Set To Return For 2016 Press Release Nov 30, 2015

The 9th Annual Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track and Field meet will be contested in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on Saturday, February 6, 2016.  The meet is conducted under the auspices of the Gainesville Sports Commission.  This will be the last track meet contested on the storied 35 year old O'Connell Center track which has seen numerous World, USA professional, high school, and age group records and national leaders. Later this year, the "O'Dome" renovations begin which include removing the track.

Atlanta, GA, July 20, 2014 — The American Track League is headed back to Atlanta for a night filled with entertainment both on and off the track. The meet will be held on August 1st with the gates opening at 6:30pm, live music to begin at 7:00pm and the first field event beginning at 7:30pm. Each year, Atlanta Track Club hosts the All-Metro Awards Banquet as part of its commitment to recognize outstanding high school track and field and cross country athletes.

Registration is filling quickly for the 2014 All-Metro High School Cross Country Awards Banquet. Don’t miss out on this year’s event! On December 3, 2014 at the College Football Hall of Fame, Atlanta Track Club will present the 42 deserving scholastic student-athletes, 21 boys and 21 girls, to be named to the First, Second or Third All-Metro Cross Country Teams.  Each of the All-Metro athletes will be recognized for their extraordinary seasons at the All-Metro Banquet and First Team All-Metro honorees will receive a $500 scholarship from Atlanta Track Club. Also honored that evening will be the All-Metro Women’s and Men’s coaches whose teams won State Championship titles, and four individual awards for Outstanding Male/Female State Cross-Country Athlete and Outstanding Dedication Award for the Male/Female Cross-Country Coach. This year’s banquet will feature an inspiring keynote speaker, the fastest marathoner in U.S. History, Ryan Hall. Hall will speak to the young athletes about his experiences running in high school, college and at the Olympics.
