Tuesday Triumphs at World Youth Trials

George Washington teammates Dior Hall and Darby Gilfillan claimed Colorado's two titles in action today at the World Youth Trials. Photos by David Everett.

Tuesday wasn't as strong of a day for Colorado as Monday was at the World Youth Trials, but it was a nice day for the girls who wear George Washington green and white in the spring nevertheless.

Dior Hall took command of the 100 hurdles, claiming the win in 13.53 (-2.2). While that's well off of her best time in the event, it appears to be an indicator that things are headed back in the right direction.

And, running a solo effort, GW teammate Darby Gilfillan took the 3000 meter title in 10:47.11. Gilfillan, too, has seen stronger efforts than that, but there is little that quite explains the loneliness of running 7.5 laps solo. All of the stimuli that would normally make you push things harder in a race are lacking.

Elsewhere, Bailey Roth picked up a sixth in the 1500 after winning Monday's 2000 steeple. Darby Gilfillan saw the sixth and raised it one with fifth with a fifth of her own in the 1500. Alleandra Watt ran 54.43 for fourth in the 400 meter final. Megan McCabe tied for sixth in the pole vault. Shayna Yon finished eighth in the 100. Trevor Rex finished fourth in the high jump at 6-2.75.

That, I believe wraps up the Colorado story for World Youth Trials 2013.
