Brandon Singleton's stellar 2013 season at 200 and 400 meters earned him a scolarship at Oklahoma State University, making three from Colorado for this signing year. Photo by Paul Jaeger.

Brandon Singleton's best marks:

200 meters indoor - 22.29

200 meters outdoor - 21.59

400 meters indoor - 50.45

400 meters outdoor - 47.49

You are now the third Oklahoma State signing we've featured this year. Did the OSU coaches let you know they were working Colorado really hard this year?

I didn't really know that they were working so hard on getting Colorado runners but they did mention "a long distance runner from Denver" when I was on my visit.

What are you planning to study at Oklahoma State?

I'm not quite sure exactly what I'm going to study but I know I want to go into the business field.

If you had to choose between running 200s and 400s only for the rest of your life, which one would you choose, and why?

Man that's a hard question right there, but I'd probably have to go with the 200 because I really love coming off that curve in top speed where in the 400 I'm still going fast, but it's not the same tempo.

You've enjoyed a very successful high school career on a very strong team. There are probably many treasured highlights of your high school career, but can you pick one that tops them all?

Winning the State Championship of course! The amount of talent on that team was incredible, and as a team we became so close. And I view them all as my brothers.

There are very few schools in the state that come close to rivaling Cherokee Trails relays. What makes your relays so special?

Our relay team is so special because we have a great coach and our teams' work ethic is incredible we always push each other to get stronger and faster every day.

As you look ahead to the outdoor season, what's one thing you want to have accomplished by the end of the season?

This upcoming season I hope to get under 47 seconds in the 400, get into the low 21s in the 200, get under 11 seconds in the 100, and lead my team to another State title.

**********
Cherokee Trail is certainly in the hunt for a second consecutive state title. There is a lot of talent back from that 2013 team, and Chris Faust is not the kind of coach to take things for granted. But, there are other teams in the title hunt as well, so Brandon's goals of low 21s and sub-47 could be critical to the eventual outcome. And, make no mistake, the sprint relays will be critical to the eventual outcome as well.
