Tell us a little about what made you decide on Abilene Christian as your college of choice.

There were many reasons I chose ACU. One of the most important things about that school is that it's a Christian university. I know that at this school, it will be much easier to take a firm stand in my values and my faith. They are very well known for their high academic standards, so I know my education will be a top priority there. Also, now that ACU has moved up to Division I, their athletic program is on the rise. They had a lot of success in Division II, so I'm excited to be a part of their success transitioning into Division I. Lastly, the people at the school are incredible, from the coaches, to the team, to even the students. When I was on my visit there, they really made me feel at home.

What is your intended course of study at ACU?

As of right now, I am planning on majoring in Spanish and Pre-Med. ACU has a great pre-med program, so I am excited to see where that will take me! From there, I would like to go to medical school and become a surgeon.

If you had to choose between the two, would it be cross country or track?

This is a very hard question! I have run both cross country and track for years, and I love them both, but I would choose track over the two. I like getting into a groove and trying to keep my splits consistent.

Do you have any post-season cross country plans for this year or is it a case of rest up a little, then start preparing for track?

I have decided that I'm not going to run Nike or Foot Locker this year. Instead, I'm improving my strength and agility during post-season cross country so I can come into track season stronger than I have in any of my previous seasons. I might jump in a few 5k or 10k races for fun, but my main focus for the off-season is getting strong for track.

Is there a special memory of your high school career that stands out above all the others?

One memory that stands out is actually an 800m Katie and I ran against each other. We were both on the line about to start, and just as I was going to give her a good luck pat on the back, she jumped to get her legs warmed up and spiked my whole hand. I ended up running with blood running down my fingers and arm. It was that race that you took one of my favorite pictures, the one with Katie and I holding one another up as we're walking off the track.

You've been teammates with your sister the last two years. What has the experience been like for the two of you?

Being a teammate to my little sister has been one of the best experiences of my life! It has been awesome to share so many successes with my best friend, especially going on the medal stand with her in the 4x800. We are very competitive with one another, but we have used that to push each other and make ourselves better. We're enemies at the start, but best friends at the finish. I am so proud of the success she had her freshman year in track (even though it meant her beating me!!) and I am thankful to spend my last year of high school athletics with my little sister.

Are there any goals for your one remaining season of high school track that you're willing to share with us at this point?

I am excited for track this spring! I am really focusing on improving my strength this off-season. I want to cut time off all my PRs, and I am especially working on getting my 800 time down so we can have a great 4x800 relay this track season. I want to make my last season of high school athletics the strongest of my career.
