It looks like UNC is pulling in a strong class of freshman girls out of Colorado next fall. Tell us what made you decide that UNC was the school for you.

I decided that UNC was the perfect school for me, not only because of the excitement for next year's team, but the coaches made me feel incredibly confident in my talents and the school environment was exactly what I've always expected it to be. UNC is also relatively close to home in Arvada, which is great. It's about an hour away, making it really nice for my family, friends, and I to stay close.

What do you plan to study at UNC?

I plan to study Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; it's something I've wanted to profess in since kindergarten!

Your performances have gotten steadily better, across all of your events, as you've gone through high school. That's what we always hope for, but the truth is that things don't always work out that way for a lot of athletes. What are one or two things that have helped make that possible for you?

A majority of my progress over the years definitely stems from my parents, teammates, and coaches. When they give good vibes, I get good results! I don't think it can be emphasized enough that running is a mental sport, and you have to be crazy to do crazy things.

Last year, you started running a lot more 3200s in track. Most distance types tend to run fewer 3200s as they get older. What was the thinking behind take on the 32 in a serious way last year, and will we see more of it this spring?

Last year was actually the first time that I've ever run a 3200, which was strange because it ended up being my main distance. I'd always been the 1600 and 800 girl the year before that, but after doing so well in cross country and training higher miles with Alaina Anderson--I owe a lot to this spectacular lady--my coach finally threw me in for the "long haul." A higher volume of training has definitely helped me prepare for these races as well, as it hopefully will again this year!

If you had to choose between track and cross country, which would it be?

This question pops up into my mind surprisingly often, and it's never easy to answer! If I had to chose between the two, it would have to be cross country. The intimacy of the team and the atmosphere at the meets can't be beaten, even on a bad day.

Pick a favorite moment for us out of your high school career.

My favorite high school moment. Is this ever an easy question to answer? Since there are so many, I'll have to condense it down into one general moment. It may be cliche, but I think the moment I joined Pomona's cross country team I've been reaping the benefits and fond experiences since. All of my best friends are my teammates. We all do the same stupid things, we all have inside jokes that non-runners won't get, we all share the same memories together; there are very special relationships I've forged out of this team.
