Start by telling us what drew you to Hastings...

What drew me to Hastings is that the Coach came to me and had a clear vision of how Hastings would use me in the Cross Country and Track Program and to make the most of what I had to offer.

Do you have a planned course of study for your time there yet?

I worked with Hastings to figure out a plan to become an athletic trainer through the major of Exercise Science.

You've had a high school career with a lot of variety in it--cross country, both hurdle events, a few 400s and 800s, and--I'm guessing now--a few relays. What's your favorite event out of all of those?

Choosing a favorite event is definitely always hard to do, but if I absolutely had to, I would choose the hurdles because it is not like any other event I had done before incorporating the running and the strength. Also, my hurdle coach is fantastic and I enjoy working with him.

Can you identify for us a favorite moment in high school cross country or track and field?

When I think of a favorite moment, I am torn between two of them. The first one is when I finished first in the 300 Meter Hurdles in the 2014 Centennial League meet. To me, it felt amazing to be the champ in an individual event. It helped show me what I could do alone. The second one is the 4x4 meter relay at State 2014. We finished second, behind the first-place finishers by .02 seconds. The amount of hard work we put in definitely showed in our performance and how we all came together as a team to perform so well.

The Grandview track and field program has been a solid all-around program for several years now--what do prospects look like for this coming spring?

For this upcoming spring, I believe our team is going to be really good and I am excited to see how we all perform.

Do you have any personal goals you'd like to scratch off your list this spring?

I have always had my eye on our school's 300 meter hurdle record. I would like to make it to state in a couple event of course, maybe even being on top of the podium for the 4x4 relay instead of second. But overall, just have a great season that I can enjoy.
