The University of Wyoming is pretty close to home for you, but I'm guessing that was only one of the reasons you chose to sign with the Cowboys. Tell us a little about what led to the decision.

There were many reasons as to why I chose to go to the University of Wyoming. A few of the major reasons were that I had a very strong connection with the coaching staff from the beginning and their facilities were amazing. Also what helped push me to finally make my decision was the time spent with the girl’s team. I had a great connection with all of them, which helped immensely!

What do you plan to study at the University of Wyoming?

I plan to minor in Spanish and major in either kinesiology or environmental studies.

Do you have any plans for post-season cross country this year?

I plan to work on getting stronger and cross training in preparation for track season so I’ll be in the best shape possible to accomplish my goals.

You had an enormous breakthrough in the 1600 last spring. Was there anything in particular about your training that helped set you up for that?

Last year I started to incorporate more cross training during the off season. I PR’d multiple times by a second or two with still having something left in the tank, so by conference I was ready for a breakthrough and hungry to leave everything out on the track.

If things go as planned will the 1600 be your feature race this spring? Do you have any particular goals for that event in the spring?

Yes, as long as things go according to plan, I would like to PR by hitting 4:55.00 for my 1600 time.  I also plan to improve my 800 and 3200 PR’s next spring and hopefully qualify for state in more than one individual event, along with my team in the 4x800.

You are seven seasons down and one to go in your high school career. What's been the highlight of your high school career to date?

I had two highlights that stand out. First as a freshman at the conference 3200 race.  I went into the race wanting to qualify for state and wanting to PR. During the race I hung on to those who I’d never beaten before and it was with one to two laps to go that I passed the pack and got myself a new PR and qualified in the 18th spot for state!

My second highlight is the state cross country meet this year.  I fully dedicated myself to improving my training during the offseason with the goals of making first team all-state for the season.  It was so exciting getting 5th place and accomplishing this goal that I worked so hard for.
