USA Juniors Find Tough Competition at Edinburgh XC

Paul Roberts and Katie Rainsberger found exceptionally tough competition at this year's Great Edinburgh Cross Country race. Contributed photos.

For the USA Junior Men and Women, the competition at Great Edinburgh XC was all it was expected and be--and probably a little more.

Great Britain and Europe dominated the Junior Men's competition, with only Philip Rocha able to earn a top-ten finish for the USA. Paul Roberts would slip in at 14th, stopping the clock at 20:10 for 6K.

For the USA Junior Women, Great Britain was a distant first, but the USA women were able to hold their own nicely with team Europe. Katie Rainsberger led the USA women with a 14:29 finish for 5th in the 4K race.

Even with course alterations made necessary by conditions, the course still qualified as sloppy.
