Ben Butler Pointed to Oregon for USA Cross Country

Ben Butler takes on yet another cross country challenge this weekend. Photo by Alan Versaw.

There is no World Cross Country this year, so USA Cross Country is more about the experience and the national competition this year.

Unlike last year, the field is not flooded with Colorado entries, but that has everything to do with the fact that the venue this year is in Bend, Oregon, and not Boulder, Colorado.

Still, there is one Colorado entry in the 8K Junior Men's race. That lone entry would be SkyView Academy's Ben Butler. Butler figures to take the course on Saturday for what could be very nearly as nice of a day as USA Cross Country was last year in Boulder.

Butler finished 14th in a field of 46 in last year's Junior Men's race.

The overall field will be small for the Junior Men's race. The current count of entries hovers around 30, and we are already well-acquainted with the hefty price tag attached to race-day entries.

All of Colorado wishes Ben Butler well in Oregon. And, if he does especially well--perhaps even so well as to win the race--perhaps we can file a petition to change the spelling of municipality to Benned, Oregon.

Results will be posted here as they become available.
