Katie Rainsberger Smashes Colorado State Record

Katie Rainsberger of Air Academy broke the Colorado state record in the 1600m on Monday, March 28 with a 4:44.31 win at the Longmont Invitational

Rainsberger, an Oregon Ducks commit, also won the 800m with a new season-best effort of 2:11.8, which ranks U.S. No. 11. Her 1600m time sets a new national lead by two seconds.

Rainsberger owns the nation's fastest personal record in the mile, thanks to her National Senior Class Record of 4:36.61 to win New Balance Nationals Indoor.

The prior state record of 4:46.22 was set by Jordyn Colter at the state meet last May. The freshman at Cal-Berkeley still owns the Colorado state record for 800m in 2:04.52.
