While We Were All Out in Search of Qualifying Marks...

Katie Rainsberger ran 4:14.20 for 1500 meters on Friday night. For perspective, that is the #5 AT high school mark for 1500 meters. Colorado Track XC file photo by Alan Versaw.

Katie Rainsberger's second trip to Oregon this season was a little better than her first. Rainsberger managed to improve on her 4:17.52 time last time around with a 4:14.20 this time. This time she finished second, last time it was first, in a loaded field of post-collegiate athletes. This time it was the Oregon Twilight, last time it was the Oregon Relays.

The reason for the appeal of Oregon should be apparent by now. Just breaking in a new home track, you know...

If you've been around distance running long enough to remember Jordan Hasay, Hasay finished nearly two-and-a-half seconds in arrears to Rainsberger.

The mark does nothing to qualify Rainsberger for anything at next week's state meet, but you could be forgiven for getting the feeling that bigger qualifications may be on her mind.

We shall see what the rest of the 2016 season holds for Rainsberger. Perhaps the next stop is a new state meet record or two?
