Colorado and Other Nations

It's natural to think that Colorado athletes would end up at the United State Olympic Trials or the United States Junior Championships. But, it isn't always so.

At least two Colorado athletes--one a current high schooler and the other a recent high schooler--will be competing shortly to represent their nations on the world stage. Only those nations aren't the United States.

In Lauren Gale's case, it will be Canada. In Zainab Sanni's case, it will be Nigeria.

Gale is slated to compete this week in the Canadian Junior Championships in the 400 meters. Gale, of course, runs for Discovery Canyon in the scholastic season.

Sanni will be competing for a spot on Nigeria's Olympic team this week in the 100 and 200. A slot on Nigeria's 4x100 relay is also a distinct possibility. Not that long ago, Sanni was lighting up the track for Smoky Hill High School.

I will try, but I can't promise, to get results posted (in some form or fashion) here.
