At least once a year, almost every Western Slope team (and especially those from 4A on down) makes a trip to Confluence Park in Delta (aka the Delta Speedway) to enjoy a PR festival. It helps if the trip is later in the season so that the sometimes-blistering Delta heat has abated a little.
Inasmuch as Delta is centrally located on the Western Slope, the Delta Speedway has become the destination of choice for regional meets. Not only does this keep travel to a minimum, but it also allows the Western Slope teams to post a few gaudy race numbers for those on the other side of the Continental Divide to cogitate over a little.
