Peak to Peak sophomore Quinn McConnell looked poised to defend her Colorado State Cross Country Championships Class 3A title on Saturday over Kayla Young, a 2015 Foot Locker finalist and the 2015 runner-up in Class 4A. Especially when the Denver North senior stumbled on the home straightaway.
But then McConnell soon succumbed to the heat, as well, granting Young the time necessary to pass for her first state cross country title. She still held on for second place overall and led Peak to Peak to win the team title. Read the full recap on Colorado MileSplit here.
