For the past several years, the Air Force High School Open has been a meet living on the edge. For a few of those years, it was a meet on the edge of going away. The last couple of years, it was a meet on the edge of going to the next level.

If athlete numbers (well over 800 this year) are any indication, then the Air Force High School Open has taken their game to the next level. There is a solid chance that next year's meet becomes a two-day affair. As it was, this year's meet made for a very, very long day.

And, yet, packed into the very long day were a number of outstanding performances. We saw the best of the indoor season to date on Saturday. For the most part, the indoor season now moves on to large regional meets in Albuquerque and Pocatello, with a major Western Slope meet in Gunnison thrown in for good measure.
