How many girls can Colorado advance to the 60 meter dash finals?
Arria Minor, fresh off a trip to Albuquerque, is sitting this one out. Taylor Watson is also absent from the start lists. But, it's still not like Colorado is firing blanks through the rest of the sprint order.
Maya Evans, Audra Koopman, Jaiden Paris, Dawnielle Lewis, and Bree Hysaw all look like strong candidates to advance. But, it's a massive field to work through. How many will make it to finals?
Can Colorado go 1-2 in the long jump?
We already talked a little about Maya Evans and Audra Koopman with respect to the 60 meter dash, but they're probably both even better as long jumpers.
Even as talented as the pair are, it's far from a given that they finish 1-2, though it does qualify as the sort of thing you might dream about if you root for the home team.
Can Brie Oakley win the 1600?
Brie Oakley had no peers at NXN, or anywhere else during the cross country season. Still, it may not be a given that she wins the 1600.
The stiffest competition lining up against Oakley takes the form of Lexy Halladay and Whitney Rich. Oakley's 1600 PR is 4:57-and-change. She will probably need to figure on a new PR to take the win here.
Pocatello sits at about 4400 feet of elevation, so this won't be quite like running at sea level.
Can Mary Gillett pull a stunner in the 200?
It's easy to think of the 400 as Mary Gillett's best event. But Gillett is going shorter this weekend. Gillett is entered in the 200, and not the 400. She's a sleeper in the field, to be sure, there but knowledgeable track fans will keep a careful eye on her just the same.
