Track and Field Notes

There's nothing quite like starting your morning with a cup of coffee and track and field notes.

Actually, I don't know about the coffee part. Certain family members find it indispensable. For me, it's been more than half a lifetime ago. And I'm okay with that now.

Anyhow...

While you were paying attention to the Simplot Games, and maybe a bit to the TCA Polar Bear as well, a group of Colorado tracksters slipped off to Kentucky for the UK High School Invitational. And, they came back with a few nice results.

Results like Devin Cadena, 6.86 in the 60. Anna Hall, 5-7.75 in the high jump. Jordan McCurdy, 5:08.62 in the mile. Aumni Ashby, 38-1.5 in the triple jump. And, there were a few more, but those seem to be the highlights of the highlights, at least from what I gleaned.

Onto the more mundane...

Keep checking back this week for summaries by classification of the indoor season's performances. I figured it might be useful to a few of you folks, at least, to see all the 5A indoor performances, the 4A, the 3A, and so on all the way down. I'll have those all neatly summarized for you in the week ahead.

All the more for us obsessive types to obsess over.

If you have a meet on the outdoor calendar, you may want to log in, go to the admin side of the meet, and check that your settings are what you want them to be. I had to mass copy over meets from last year at the end of January to populate this year's schedule and keep myself in good standing with MileSplit. As a result, if you hadn't already cloned your meet from last year, your meet settings will look a whole lot like last year's--which may or may not be a good thing.

In any case, if things need to change--and especially events and entries per event (which are things you can't change on your side)--let me know and I'll get those changed for you. Meet information, online registration opening and closing dates are things you can manage on your side.

Also, as a reminder, the great roster transfer is scheduled to happen on March 4 this year. If you do not have your rosters populated by 10 PM on March 3, you will need to enter athletes on both the Colorado Track XC side and the MaxPreps side. Please spare yourself that ordeal.

The CHSAA track and field bulletin and final state meet schedule have not yet published. I will link to those when I see them.

And I will see you around the track sometime this spring! Best wishes on a very successful season all around.
