2017 Broomfield Shootout: A Day Late, But Still a Great Meet

The much-anticipated showdown between Arria Minor and Michaela Onyenwere in the 100 meters went Minor's way.

Getting perfect meet conditions in March is quite simply not something that happens all that often. Meet directors take what they can get when it comes to weather, and thank their lucky stars when meets get to happen. This is especially true for mega meets with 46 teams. Such was the case on Saturday when the Broomfield Shootout, originally scheduled for Friday went off under generally agreeable weather conditions.

There are those in the world of track and field who may disagree that it is worth keeping team scores at large invitational meets. Some meet directors will even go so far as to not keep team scores at all. Fortunately for those who enjoy the team element of track and field, the Broomfield Shootout does not fall in to that category. During the window of spring break, all team results must be taken with a bit of a grain of salt, but there did not appear to be a lot of grains out on Saturday as several teams appeared loaded to bear.
