Jared Leblow approaches a turn in fresh snow en route to a dominating win at the US Junior Snowshoe Championships.
Colorado's Western Slope was well represented at last weekend's USA Junior Snowshoe Championships in Bend, Oregon.
Make that very well represented.
Grand Junction Central's Jared Leblow won the Junior Men's title in 26:39. Soleil Gaylord was similarly well out in front of the field, winning her second consecutive Junior Women's national title in 31:33.
The national snowshoe championships were greeted with a foot a new snow the night before, adding to the difficulty of an already challenging course.
Adding to the festivities of the day, Jared's younger brother Jordan won the middle school title.
This should slam the door shut on the snowshoe season and, presumaby, we can expect to see more of Gaylord and Leblow on the track scene going forward.
