2017 Mickey Dunn: Horizontal Jumps Top The Day

Gunner Rigsby took over the state lead in the long jump with a 23-2.5.

On an overcast damp morning that was recovering from a previous evening of rain, it was uncertain how the weather would play out. With 22 teams registered, including ThunderRidge visiting from the Front Range, many athletes and coaches certainly were certainly hoping for good conditions as the 2017 season opened into the month of April.

What transpired was mostly cooperating wind conditions and some spectacular long and triple jumping that shook up the upper echelons of the state ranking lists. This was no April Fool's Day hijinks, this was a day of flight.
