Regan Aurich didn't come down from 4A this year, but she is new to the classification nevertheless and one of the reasons the 400 standard is already tougher than last year.
When we did this piece on 3A Boys, we noted that 3A inherited a lot of last year's 4A teams this year. That means, among other things, that we expect the 3A qualifying standards to be generally better this year than last.
And, we can already see that, even a month out from State, several 3A Girls qualifying standards have already exceeded last year's eventual minimums to get to State. That will only get worse over the next month. 3A Girls appears to be much tougher than last year.
