2017 Coronado Cougar: In Under the Weather

Luc Andrada Stays The Course Of The Meet

When the 200 meter final came around deep into the afternoon, only three of the eight qualifiers bothered to show up.

Pueblo East's Luc Andrada earned a few competitor points in my book by being one of those three and lighting up the track with a 22.18 (0.0). It won't go down as one of the great 200s in Colorado high school track and field history, but it was a solid statement that he came to run some track and field even so.

And, Andrada's winning effort completed his sprint tour de force of the day.

Earlier in the day, through the passage of seasons, Andrada had posted the top 100 prelims time of 11.04 (1.7), posted the top 200 prelims time of 22.22 (1.0), and won the 100 in 10.91 (0.3) before the wind started to get more aggressive.

On this day, the Pueblo East sophomore had no peers on the track and few peers in resilience.

Douglas County's Kendal Smith and Durango's Alex Hise earn a nod of recognition for being the other two 200 qualifiers to show up for finals. And both kept their race times well in the 22s as well. There would be no cold-day 23s for this (small) crowd. Three is a crowd, right?
