News and Notes: Make-Up Meets

For those who waited to run meets on Monday and Tuesday, it was apparently worth the wait...

From the Holy Family Tiger Tornado meet, there were a whopping 20 prequalifying marks, including an 11.23 100 and a 22.87 200 for Blaise Lake of Denver Lutheran, a 3:28.68 4 X 400 for University, and a 23.03 200 and a 50.21 400 for Grant Stegehuis of Faith Christian.

The Mustang Invitational saw Boulder's Kelsey Lakowske thrown down a 5:12.43 1600, Eleanor Fulton (Highlands Ranch) a 10:56.20 3200, Mountain View's Amy Medina clear 5-7 in the high jump, Northglenn's Cory Engel go 38.33 in the 300 hurdles, and Fairview turn an 8:04.48 4 X 800.

But wait, the Pikes Peak Invitational on Monday may have had the most impressive marks of all. Here's a quick summary of the best of the best: Sara Benson of Rampart 45.27 in the 300 hurdles, Libby Westfall of Pine Creek 11-6 in the pole vault, Jordan Rand of Doherty 37-1 in the triple, teammate Kenny Chambers 21.82 in the 200, Derek McAllister of Widefield 48.64 in the 400, Ken Harriman of Pueblo South 171-0 in the discus, and Travvis Scott of Coronado 6-6 in the high jump.
