First Take Of Colorado Simplot Entries: Boys

Freshman Korey Hairston highlights a solid boys crew competing at the Simplot Games.

There are a lot of Colorado entrants for the Simplot Games, so here's a quick rundown of some of the state's top athletes, and what event they're competing in.

60: Can Korey Hairston dip under 7.0? The freshmen-phenom has run under 7.10 four times this indoor season. He's currently the No. 4 60 runner in Colorado along with Sterling Brassfield, who is also in the field and could break the barrier as well.

200 - Jalen Lyon is Colorado's No. 1 200 runner indoors, how does he stack up against some of the best in the country? Colorado No. 3 and 4, Deondre Ritter and Ibro Soumah are also in the field and could be threats.

400 - Colorado's fastest indoor 400 runners, Kobe Christiansen and Jared Ammonwill toe the line here.

Mile - 4:13 miler James Lee will open up his 2018 track campaign here, and should be one to reckon with. He hasn't raced indoors yet, but his prior achievements throw him into the conversation with ease. Additionally, Cal Banta hasn't run an indoor mile yet, but he has run 1:56 in the 800.

3,200 - Brock Dykema and Logan Simington will start their 2018 season in their strongest event.

High Jump - Jalen Lyon will look to improve on his Colorado No. 3 mark of 6-4 here.

Shot put - Colorado's No. 1 Reece Davidson will head to the Simplot Games in search of more gains. Davidson has been on a roll this indoor season. Colorado No. 2 James Heater is also on the start list.
