Western Slope Athletes Roar Into The Wind At Tiger

Sarah Wagler eyes the clock as she rounds the bend in the 1,600.

Rifle's Sarah Wagler came off the first curve of her final lap in the 1,600 and did what many will do/did the last week before the state meet - she looked at the clock. Wagler was working to improve her season best of 5:16.67 from two weeks ago, and despite a windy day and running by herself, she almost made it happen in her second fastest time of the season 5:18.89.

While Wagler is fine shape to make it to Lakewood for state, the Grand Junction Tiger meet served as a last-chance meet for members of 17 teams from the Western Slope.
