Kelley, Gaylord, and Ross Shine Bright In 2A

Patrick Scoggins and Ty Grant battled through the 200. Grant took the state title in 22.62.

Michael Morgan was the clear winner in the 100. The Buena Vista senior ran 11.23 for the upset victory over pre-meet favorite Ty GrantGrant did get his state title, however, in the 200. He ran 22.62 for his first individual state title.

In the 400 Patrick Scoggins was untouchable. The Rangley senior dominated the event, winning by over a second. Scoggins ran 51.02 for the state title. He also tallied a runner-up performance in the 800, behind The Ben Kelley

Kelley had won the event, and set the state meet record each time he competed in it. So, in his senior year, what better way to cap his high school career than with a win, and a state meet record?

Kelley did just that.

The Soroco senior blitzed the field, running 1:52.77, which was also the fastest 800 in all-classifications. Additionally, he claimed the 1,600 title in 4:23, which was an 11-second victory.

In the 3,200 Cody Danley surged hard through the second mile to create the needed gap for the win. Danley ran 9:42 to claim the state title.

Looking ahead, keep an eye on Isaac RobertsThe Lyons sophomore finished third in the 1,600, and second in the 3,200, and returns as the favorite next year.

The 110 hurdles was a battle between Austin Davis and Jacob Yates. The two were clear of the field, with Davis taking the win in 14.90. Yates got his state title, however, in the 300 hurdles, where he ran 39.50.

The high jump was a hotly contested competition, with two going over 6-3. Grant Redmond claimed the title with a jump of 6-5, just ahead of Davis, who went 6-4.

In the long jump a new name to remember claimed the event. Keep an eye on freshmen Tanner Applebee, because he won the event in 21-3.5. In the triple jump Brady Lenz was a foot beyond the competition, winning the state title with a jump of 43-2.5.

Jake Chrisman was the winning in the pole vault, claiming the event by six inches with a vault of 13-4.

In the discus Lane Walter dominated the competition. The junior tossed 160-1, which was 12 feet beyond the competition. Likewise, Jacob Tu'ufuli was a clear two-feet beyond anyone, winning the event 48-8.75.

In the relays there was no stopping Cedaredge. They won the 4x1 in 45.12, the 4x2 in 1:32.02, and the 4x4 in 3:30.01. Each win was hundredths of a second ahead of second place, showing that they did what they needed to do to win. The 4x8 came down to the final leg, and Lyons proved to be the best. They ran away with a 8:12.75.

The team race was about as close as it could be. Resurrection Christian tallied 63 points to inch away from Cedaredge and Lyons, who both scored 58 points to tie for second. And right on their heels was Hoehne with 56 points. Talk about competition that went all the way into the final minutes of the final day.
