Quinn McConnell nabbed the win, and a new personal best of 17:00.
Peak to Peak's Quinn McConnell finished second here before, but she took one more step on the podium this time around.
The senior finally claimed the victory, and did so in fashion, running a 17:00.10 personal best. The time is No. 8 in the country. McConnell was all smiles following her win.
McConnell's finish led a wave of five Coloradan's into the top 10. Cherokee Trail's Cameron McConnell finished fourth in another PR, this time running 17:17. Speaking of making improvements, Niwot's Samrawit Dishon followed suit, finishing sixth in 17:24 - a 40 second PR. And she was right in front of Eagle Valley's Joslin Blair, who took her school record back from her sister, running 17:25. Air Academy's Tatum Miller was the fifth Colorado runner to finish, running 17:46 - her third time between 17:42 and 17:46 at this meet.
Additional notable performances came just outside the top 10. Niwot's 800 star Taylor James dipped under 18 for the first time, running 17:49 to finish 12th, and Valor Christian's Keely Jones dropped a 17:53 for a 45 second PR.
Niwot's girls duplicated their boy's by taking second in the team competition. Boise Senior High took the title with 87 points, though Colorado took the next four spots, led by Niwot's runner-up finish with 118 points. Peak to Peak wasn't far back in third, tallying 143, Air Academy was fourth in 152, and Cherokee Trail was fifth in 152.
