3A Region 3: Peaking At The Right Time

Quinn McConnell dominated a field mostly blue to capture her fourth consecutive region title.

Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. Right.

Quinn McConnell was striding with appeared ease across the thick green grass without a competitive shadow in sight. Her arms swayed opposite her legs, and her eyes cast downwards at the ground soon to be trod upon. An eerie silence enveloped her, as the only sound audible to the bystander was her steady breathing.

She ran within her own personal orb, clear of the field mostly blue.

Domination. Beast ModeGone.

All words that best describe McConnell's performance at the Region 3 championship. The Peak to Peak senior was out quick from the start, and never looked back. McConnell captured her fourth-consecutive region title, as if there was ever a question about it.

McConnell ran away with an 18:20 victory, leading teammates Anna ShultsTiana Bradfield, and Allison Beasley to a 1-2-3-4 Peak to Peak finish. Shults ran 18:44, Bradfield ran 18:58, and Beasley ran 19:14.

Faith Christian's Shannon King was the first finisher not wearing blue, crossing the line fifth in 19:21.

Just as dominating as McConnell's victory was, Peak to Peak followed suit with a staggering 20 points. Faith Christian was second with 73 points, just ahead of Holy Family's 81, and rounding out the state qualifying squads was Jefferson Academy with 141 points.

And the Peak to Peak girls weren't the only ones to dominate - their No. 1 boy's squad duplicated the feat...
