3A Region 3: Peaking At The Right Time

Yasin Sado was the runaway victor in the boy's race.

There was a theme Thursday afternoon, and it was along the lines of races mirroring each other. Case in point: Yasin Sado's domination of the boy's race.

After hovering within the pack through the opening mile, Sado threw down the hammer. He quickly opened up a sizable gap, leaving Christian Montoya and William Ledden to give chase.

Sado, however, clearly preferred to run on his own, as he telescoped away with 16:37 victory. Ledden followed, just ahead of Montoya.

Behind Sado, Peak to Peak was making huge gains in the final half of the race, proving their No. 1 ranking in dominating fashion.

Led by Ledden, Ethan Monarski', and Ryan Kuykendall's  2-3-5 finish in 16:53, 17:06, and 17, Peak to Peak crammed their top five into the top 10.

The boys from the 'Peak tallied 27 points to claim the region title. Behind them Holy Family, Jefferson Academy, and Faith Christian took the remaining tickets to State, tallying 86, 118, and 121 points.
