NXR-SW 2018: Three Colorado Teams to NXN

Girls Championship: Mountain Vista Has No Peers

For Mountain Vista, almost everything went according to script. The one main deviation from the script, however, was Jenna Fitzsimmons finishing back in 22nd. It would fall to Sarah O'Sullivan to lead the Mountain Vista charge today with an 8th-place finish.

Madison Reed would finish 16th, Caroline Eck 33rd, and Shantell Hafner 64th to complete the scoring. After team scoring adjustments were made, that would leave Vista Nation with 88 points, easily outdistancing Battle Mountain in second (135 points).

For Battle Mountain, this will be a second consecutive trip to the big dance, the place where they came out as a stunning (to many of us, at least) third last year.

The second-place finish for Rob Parish's crew also turns the tables on the Niwot team that beat them at state three weeks ago. Niwot was third with 140 points, just ahead of Utah's Lone Peak with 141. Niwot seems to have a reasonable shot at an at-large berth, but it will be another week before anyone knows the ending of that story.

Other Colorado teams in the championship race included The Classical Academy (5th), Peak to Peak (6th), Air Academy (7th), Cherry Creek (13th), Fossil Ridge (14th), Cherokee Trail (18th), Monarch (22nd), Fairview (23rd).

Top-15 finishes were logged by Quinn McConnell (5th), Kaylee Thompson (6th), Sarah O'Sullivan (8th), Taylor Whitfield (9th), Taylor James (11th), Joslin Blair (13th), Samwarit Dishon (14th), and Cameron McConnell (15th).
